GSP 75 NATIONAL YOUNG ACHIEVERS
Thank you Girl Scouts of the Philippines for the recognition.
It is an honor to be chosen as one of the 75 National Young Achievers.
Happy Diamond Jubilee Anniversary! Together, we can make a difference.
"Yes, I'm a girl in green, proud and honored so to be!"
“Girl Scouts of the Philippines, you have made a difference in my girlhood days”
This is the first line from my favorite GSP song that plays on my mind whenever I think of my scouting years. Those were the good old days of my fun-filled experiences that I treasure all my life.
It was during my GSP camping days that I had the opportunity to go from one place to another, making me realized that the world is full of exciting things and places to discover. I have developed the urge of travelling and exploring different places to explore something new, appreciate colorful cultures and learn rich traditions.
Trainings and activities were of great help in developing not only my self-esteem, but of my outdoor surviving tactics and skills as well. How fun was it to pitch tents, build fire, cook food and be able to adjust to any weather and outdoor challenges. And as I look back, I can’t help but be amazed on all the things I have explored because of scouting.
Rekindling fond memories of my girl scouting years always bring happy thoughts and smile on my face. It’s interesting how you can widen your circle of friends in just one scouting activity and event. Being a girl scout strengthen my interpersonal and public relation skills. You do not only gain friends but also instant sisters.
More than the fun activities and experiences, scouting taught me different values that molded me to become a well-rounded person- a better version of me. I became the little Ms. Independent, and by the time I reached the young adult stage, I am already prepared and matured enough to face life’s challenges. I became responsible not only for myself but for others as well. Girl scouting taught me that to become a good leader, you must be a good follower. Respect and understanding are the keys.
I will always be grateful to this institution that helps bring out the best in every girl. Loud and proud, yes! Im a girl in green…
And as the last line from my favorite GSP song goes,
“You made me what I am today, I’m loving and loyal proud to serve mankind.”
